Roomers' Mission

The seeds for Roomers were planted in 1982 when we first dreamt of bringing quality interior decorating services to the Richmond community at affordable prices. Since the opening of our retail shoppe in 1990, our family business has grown to include all facets of the home decorating process. From contemporary to country, we have all the resources to match whatever style you have in mind.

At Roomers we treat people the way we want to be treated. Our hope is that your decorating or shopping experience with us will be fun, unique, and affordable. Please call us or visit our shoppe if you have any questions regarding our services.

Our People

Randi Saunders

Since 1975, Roomers president Randi Saunders has pursued her love of home decorating in the Greater Richmond area. In 1982, bothered that retail costs for custom design work were only within the reach of Richmond's wealthy, Randi established her own design studio and focused her decorating skills toward achieving her new mission: "to bring quality interior-decorating service to the Richmond community at affordable prices." Since the opening of Roomers' first retail location, Randi and her husband Craig have consistently provided those affordable quality interior decorating services, along with a complete line of discounted home accessories. "My job is to make a house as beautiful as I can—whatever the decor—and within a customer's budget," says Randi.

30 years into her career Randi has certainly achieved what she set out to do and gained the confidence of Richmonders looking to customize their living spaces. As one regular customer reports, "You're not playing phone tag with a secretary when Randi is your decorator. She makes herself totally available to you, and her enthusiasm toward her work gives you confidence that together you'll find exactly what you're looking for."

Craig Saunders

It was with husband Craig Saunders' encouragement that Randi began her own decorating service in 1982. But in 1988 Craig's father suggested a more radical change: that Craig change career paths and combine his financial savvy with Randi's decorating talents to open their own store.

Taking Craig's father's advice the couple signed a year-long lease in 1990—the day before Desert Storm began. Says Craig, "It was our first time going into debt, and we worried about how the war would affect the job market and consumer confidence." But despite the worries about Desert Storm, despite the opening of two large chain decorating stores nearby, and despite the tragedy of 9/11 (which happened the day after Roomers moved into their current expanded location), Roomers has thrived because of the Saunders' commitment to customer satisfation. "No one we know goes any further to try to satisfy customers," says Craig. "We want everybody who walks through these doors to realize that if we can't help them, then nobody can. We care that much about our customers."

As Roomers' vice-president, Craig Saunders is omnipresent in the shoppe, helping customers find just what they need in terms of affordable custom interior decorating and decorative accessories.
